Barwon Heads was the location for the filming of the ABC TV series SeaChange.
Australia has many memorials. The people who, during war, suffered interminable deprivations at the hands of their captors are heroes and heroines from beyond the pale. This POW memorial is an powerful reminder of our heritage.
As a very lucky person I cannot begin to imagine the physical and mental torture to which the prisoners of war were subjected. Not even close.

Freedom is highly valued by Australians. Being a prisoner of war is fundamentally the antithesis of being an Aussie.
